Reconnect to Your Foundation

Our foundation is how we access the natural support, ease and fluidity of our body. Distortions in form caused by chronic stress and repetitive usage patterns diminish our alignment to gravity, our internal space, and our freedom of movement. When our form is either too tight or atrophied the flow of our aliveness becomes stagnant or blocked. When too loose our aliveness disperses and is uncontained.

Form is the gateway to flow. Our bodily structure is our support.

People often refer to this as grounding and centering. What often gets missed in these terms, though, is the bodily mechanics of how to adjust, feel and contact these patterns from the inside. Our ground is how we feel internal support in relation to gravity. Our center is how this support allows us to receive, fill and contain our inner buoyancy. Learning how to engage our form through intentional, connected movements retrains the neuromuscular patterning of the body, allowing us to release the accumulated patterns of stress and restore a feeling of resting within.
